Freebie Instructions - Puzzles

This will continue to be updated as new freebies become available on the page.

Puzzle activities:

On some of the files there are different options to print off for the activity. For example, The alphabet activities have a color or black and white option to save printer ink (See down below for color puzzle, color cut, bw puzzle, and bw cut, respectively). Print off the pages you choose. One being the page without the dotted lines, and one with the dotted lines. Once printed, cut along the dotted lines on the cut page to make puzzle pieces. Laminate your pages and pieces for long lasting use. (I would also recommend printing onto cardstock also to make them even more rigid and durable).

Keep the pieces in small sandwich bags between uses. Sit your child down and talk about doing a puzzle with them. Set the pieces out and have them pick them up one at a time to match onto the page. When they pick up the piece, prompt them to identify the image they have, whether it's a shape, letter, or color. If they are non-verbal or not yet speaking proficiently yet, say the item for them a couple times as they hold the piece and find its place. Praise them when they get it right or try to repeat what you say. If they don't match it up, keep a cheerful tone as you correct them and encourage them to the right spot on the page.

Not only does this work with them on the subject matter you chose, you are working on coordination, matching, dexterity, and speech. You'll find your kids will love doing these puzzles especially since it's special time with you.

Enjoy!
