Name-o Part 2!

If your child has now mastered the name-o song, or maybe they are struggling a little bit with it, add this to your game!

We NEED more than one style of learning. There is auditory, visual, kinesthetic learners, and reading/writing learners. Obviously, your child probably hasn't fully developed the reading/writing learning at an early stage, but adding this to your song game with USE ALL FOUR learning styles. Now, I will explain the learning styles in more posts later on, but this is a great next step for your child.

Use letters! Hopefully you already have letters lying around your house as a toy for your child. An alphabet cutout puzzle, foam letters, letter blocks, or even my alphabet freebies can be used for this activity.

Use the letters to spell out your child's name for the first try and sing the song. Show the letters and point them out as you sing. Challenge your child to pick out the letters and try to spell their own name by singing and pulling the letters out of the pile. If your child has more than one of the same letter in their name, don't be afraid to use more than one set of letters to spell it out.

If your child had trouble with the song before, maybe they had trouble with only auditory learning and needed to SEE, READ, or TOUCH the letters to get it. As you work more with your child in different learning activities, you will soon see what your child's best learning style is. My oldest did best with auditory, and now, his visual and reading/writing skills are almost as strong too.

Did your child master the song before using letters? If so, great! If not, don't worry. Every child is different and you will soon find the right approach to put them on the path to success!
